The Didactic and Sustainable Farm of the Ancient Sumac Plantation in Termini Imerese (PA) is a 4000 sqm natural haven at the foot of Mount San Calogero, where sumac (Rhus coriaria and Rhus glabra) grows spontaneously. This project aims to restore and promote this extraordinary plant, studying its propagation and its diverse uses in tanning, dyeing, cosmetics, and herbal medicine. Through interactive educational activities, we engage children and families in discovering sumac, polyphenols, and their benefits. The farm adheres to strict organic farming and landscape conservation principles, offering an immersive experience in a unique, breezy environment with breathtaking sea views.

At the Didactic and Sustainable Farm of the Ancient Sumac Plantation, innovation and sustainability come together in the enhancement of sumac by-products. Following the principles of the circular economy, we transform every part of the plant into innovative and sustainable products. Leaves and processing residues are used for natural fabric dyeing, cosmetics, and the creation of beneficial herbal teas. From the roots and wood, we obtain extracts for tanning applications and unique handcrafted products. Every resource is utilized with respect for the environment, demonstrating that nothing in nature should go to waste—everything can be reinvented in an ecological and sustainable way.
